Classical music ringtones

I'd like to get some suggestions for a few new classical music ringtones.

Since I got my first Android a year and a half ago, I've made a minor hobby of cutting music clips together into new MP3's that make good ringtones. My all-purpose ringtone up till now has been Vivaldi's Concerto for 2 trumpets in C. (Click the link for a recording on YouTube.) Now that I've replaced my phone, and I'm a bit sick of hearing that all the time, I'm looking for more suggestions.

My dad's got his own personal ringtone: "Jupiter" from Holst's The Planets.

My sister, being a muppets geek, gets some theme music from Labyrinth.

Lynnea's ringtone revolves around a fact about her: Every girl's crazy about a sharp dressed man.

So anyway, I'm looking for more suggestions about music to cut into other ringtones. The clip in question needs to be loud and attention getting, and preferably upbeat so I'll be in a good mood to get the call. It also should be only instrumental. Classical is preferred but obviously some rock fits the bill.

  1. How about something from Portal 2? Machiavellian Bach comes to mind, or Turret Wife Serenade?

  3. Dang it, Al has a pretty comprehensive list.

Plenty of great classical out there,

Copeland : "Fanfare for the Common Man"

Mozart : "Requiem" (if you don't mind the religion in Latin)

Haydn : Symphony No. 94, 'Surprise', 2nd movement

Are some of my favorites that have not been mentioned yet.

  4. So my classical music tastes generally revolve around those cheap albums you get on Amazon that are "The ## [superior adjective] classical songs". But here's what I found sampling those, mostly their beginnings:

Le quattro stagioni (The Four Seasons), Op. 8 - Concerto No. 1 in E Major, RV 269, "La primavera" (Spring): I. Allegro

Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 in G Major, BWV 1048: Allegro

An der schönen blauen Donau (On the Beautiful Blue Danube), Op. 314

Hungarian Dance No. 5 in G Minor

Serenade No. 13 in G Major, K. 525, "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik": Allegro

String Quintet in E Major, Op. 13: Minuet

Piano Sonata No. 11 in A Major, K. 331: Rondo: Alla turca

    Radetzky March, Op. 228

I've confirmed that dumping these song names into YouTube will get you a rendition to give you an idea in the top few videos. Most of them should be immediately recognizable.

I have a droid and had no idea you could do this. I'm a singer and always wanted the Forging Song from Siegfried as my ringtone. I can do that? Is there a link to a tutorial???

  6. Well, I had been editing my own ringtones and placing them in a folder, but I found that this app does a better job. Search the Play Store for "RingDroid".

  12. There isn't enough Bach on the list. Try parts of the Brandenburg Concerto.
    This one is my favorite..

  13. The opening, first part of overture to Don Giovanni.
If those don't get your attention, nothing will.
