And it's only taken one episode.
I mean, they already had me with "It's a TV series based on Terminator"... so already I know this is going to involve time travel, gunplay, explosions, and evil robots. Now to that, add Summer Glau, who played River Tam on Firefly. Hey, we all know that they could just make a movie called "River Tam Beats Up Everyone" and it would be great. But beating up everyone while nude? I'm so sticking with the entire season. :)
Also, this show seems to have taken the very wise approach of wiping out the completely lousy Terminator 3 from the chronology, so, bonus.
Weird - I guess the writers' strike pushed this over to the network from cable. Sure beats American Dad reruns.
ReplyDeleteNow if only Joss had three or four seasons of Firefly scripted.
ReplyDeleteCrap. I'm really bad at paying attention to tv premiere dates.
ReplyDeleteOne if the reasons I've never liked any Terminator spin off or knockoff is because I don't think anybody but Linda Hamilton can continue the acting for Sarah Conner.
Does this show have any chance of changing my mind?
That's the same reason Keryn (my sister) didn't initially want to watch. I think the new Sarah Conner is very good. She doesn't look much like Linda Hamilton at all, but she has some great lines written for her, and she delivers them well.
ReplyDeleteHopefully the writing is as good as you say. As for the new Sarah Conner, I looked at screen captures...
ReplyDeleteI knew they would do this. Linda Hamilton is capable of actually looking like she's been a mother and been through some hard times. If you remember some of John Conner's dialog with his first chevalier, Sarah Conner spent time with the Green Beret. And you remember how good she was with weapons.
Now look at the new Sarah Conner. Like on so many other shows with pretty face syndrome (every show on WB, Heroes, et al), she doesn't look like she could haul her own ass out of a paper bag, much less carry a machine gun and extra ammo with her. I've already watched a clip of her picking up that gun that destroys the assassin. It's pathetic.
I really wish Linda Hamilton had been playing the character too, but I'm accepting the new woman okay.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I'm a big fan of Lena Headey, the actress playing Sarah Connor. First saw her in IMAGINE ME AND YOU were she plays a very soft and utterly feminine, slightly arty and intellectual character.
ReplyDeleteThen again in 300, where she plays a completely different character, the queen, strong and utterly convincing, in this completely different sort of role from the previous character.
I don't think they could have made a better choice to play Connor's part and, after seeing three episodes so far, I'm even more convinced of that.
