Stupid 9/11 truthers again...

I regularly download The Rachel Maddow Show on my iPod. For the last few months, the hostess has been a regular panelist on "Race for the White House" on MSNBC, and so the first 40 minutes of Rachel's Show show are a simulcast of the audio portion of "Race."

Anyway, I tried to listen to the episode from yesterday, which was broadcast live from the convention, but I found myself was unable to hear the discussion. Some guy with a bullhorn had parked himself next to their table and was screaming "9/11 was an inside job! 9/11 was an inside job!" repeatedly throughout the entire show.

Holy geez, you people are assholes. Even if I didn't believe self-described "truthers" were complete nutjobs, what do they even think they're accomplishing by making public annoyances of themselves? Do they actually think there are some people in America who aren't already familiar with their claims? Or do they think the skeptics will be convinced if only they could hear some mindless phrase chanted over and over again at a higher volume?

I mean, seriously, it's not much more effective than hearing an infinite loop of Spongebob Squarepants laughing that stupid laugh of his for 30 minutes.

  1. I was listening to that yesterday, and I couldn't hear what he was bellowing, but then someone on the show mentioned it.

And then it came to me -- that was freakin' Alex Jones !-- I checked his infowars website, and it said he was in Denver this week.

I'll be glad when the Race to the Whitehouse is over and The Rachel Maddow Show is back to normal. Looking forward to her television show, too.

  2. hey Russell, I'm from the middle east and for many years now people are convinced here that 9/11 is an inside job, anyway I've watched some of Alex Jones stuff and i'm wondering if you wrote something in detail about 9/11 and the "truthers"?

  3. I remember downloading the show and hearing that and finally just jumping to hour 2, for pure Maddow. It is grating to have to listen to that screaming.

What I find interesting is in comparing 9/11 to other conspiracy theories. Like on podcast I listened to on Oklahoma City, Out There.

If you remember the claims on 9/11, there are still claims that all the Jewish people were out of the building at the time of attack. With the attack in OK, one of the two guys claimed that the ATF's agents were out of the building. Then the other guy questioned that thinking there were a few. Then the other guy backtracked and alluded to one of the many "theories" explaining how it all fits in to still be a government plan.

That is one thing I found interesting...tiring in listen to the conspiracies. It all fits together, if you don't look too closely. And when a plot hole arises, don't worry there is another "theory". Then it all makes sense. It is like talking about the literal truth of the bible.

It is odd to listen to these conspiracy theoriest. They have such a hate of governments and/or businesses, based on the crackiest pottiest of points and fantasies.
